These groups are made up of faithful and active Baptists
that are not controlled by the Southern Baptist Convention. They are lifesavers
for those of us trying to deal with the takeover of the SBC by fundamentalists.

Spirit of This Covenant - A Novel by Lamar Wadsworth
A story set in two Baptist churches in
the deep south and on the campus of fictional Mid-Atlantic Baptist Theological
Seminary in 1990-1991 when SBC fundamentalists are solidifying their control
over all SBC agencies and institutions. One
of the characters, Heather Simmons, is the last woman Master of Divinity student
at Mid-Atlantic, and she is called as pastor of Clear Springs Baptist Church in
the course of the novel.
